In my project Sedimentary, Igneous, Metamorphic, I've tuned into the language of geology. The textures, shapes, and patterns of rock formations that are a direct and decipherable record of Earth’s history.
While most photographic subjects are fleeting, geology remains (nearly) a constant. These landscapes are eternal for as long as we allow them to remain untouched. However our presence puts that fragility at a constant risk *google image search road cuts*
Through framing, I'm also hopeful to play with my viewers perception of scale. How certain formations look almost like areal photographs, and how patterns reappear.
My images ask the viewer to consider: How do we approach permanence? How do we witness and interact with spaces that existed long before us, and shall hopefully outlive us?
