In Sedimentary, Igneous, Metamorphic, I'm focused on the language of geology. The textures, shapes, and patterns of rock formations that are direct, decipherable records of Earth’s history.
While most photographic subjects are fleeting, geology remains (nearly) a constant. These landscapes are practically eternal for as long as we allow them to remain untouched. However our presence puts that fragility at a constant risk *google image search road cuts*
I'm also interested in playing with the viewers perception of scale through these photographs, showing both how vast and minute these formations can be.
Sedimentary, Igneous, Metamorphic is an invitation to slow down, and view rock and landscape as a living archive of. My images ask the viewer to consider: How do we approach permanence? How do we witness things that existed long before us, and may outlive us?
